Your dog could be a therapy dog and/or a Canine Good Citizen!
Becoming a therapy dog team with your dog is a GREAT way to give back to your community by visiting nursing homes, hospitals, libraries and schools. Therapy dogs can be any size, breed, color, shape, or gender. Primarily, they must enjoy being around people. Therapy dogs provide affection, comfort and support to vulnerable people who need it. They will usually visit within institutions such as in hospitals, retirement homes, hospices or other kinds of supportive care units, through their services can be called upon in a variety of circumstances.
AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC), AKC’s Advanced Canine Good Citizen (CGCA) and therapy dog certification show your dog is willing to behave with nice manners around new people, new dogs and medical equipment. They also demonstrate basic obedience commands of sit, down, stay, come when called and walking on a loose leash.
If you own a Akita, Alaskan Malamute, Doberman Pinscher, Chow Chow, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Perro De Presa Canario, Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Siberian Husky or Staffordshire Terrier obtaining your dog’s CGC can promote your breed as a Canine Good Citizen.
If you do not think your dog is ready to pass a CGC, CGCA and/or therapy test, All Dawgs provides training to get your dog ready! Please visit our classes for additional training or check out the below dates if you believe your dog is ready.
All tests are held at the All Dawgs’ building at 30 Railroad Ave, Albany, New York.

***A two-hour prep workshop will be offered beginning at 10 AM on Sunday, April 21, 2024. You may register for the workshop when you register for the test***
12 dogs will be accepted into workshop. 12 dogs will be accepted into test. THE TEST IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WORKSHOP PRICE.
